Jack Sholder (born June 8, 1945 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American film and television director and screenwriter . In the film and television industry he is best known for his exciting, action-packed and humorous films.

Life

Sholder began working in the film business in 1973 with the staging of the short film The Garden Party . In 1981 he worked as a film editor for the first and only time when he edited the film Burning Vengeance . The following year he shot his first feature film at two hours to midnight .

After the huge success of Wes Craven's horror shocker Nightmare , the " debut " of Freddy Krueger , Sholder was hired by the then New Line Cinema producer Robert Shaye to direct the second part of the series in 1985. Sholder mainly brought black humor into the film so that he could repeat the success of his predecessor.

Horror films followed, but occasionally Sholder also worked for television and some television series.
