action

The film begins with a test flight by US navy pilot John Lightfood over the Pacific. During the flight he sees a mysterious flying object with which he collides shortly afterwards. Lightfood can escape to an island with a parachute. There he discovers the wreckage of the object: it was a spaceship. Then he sees a dying alien from which something is still hatching. Shortly thereafter, the alien dies and Lightfood is attacked by a mysterious creature.

Some time later: The pilot Mercer is led by Dr. Samuel Leon and Valentine assigns to fly them to an island where there have been mysterious deaths among the local population. A local being treated under Leon also dies of a mysterious infection. Mercer agrees to join the team consisting of Valentine, his assistants Bear and Reyes, Dr. Leon, his assistant Susana and the entomologist Henry Capri. The team is said to be led by Toe Boy and two other locals.

Shortly before the island, all of the aircraft's engines suddenly fail. Mercer can only save the people with a crash landing. However, because of this she is not on the best of terms with Leon. Then the jungle expedition to Toe Boy's village begins. Shortly afterwards, Reyes is attacked by a few seemingly harmless ticks . But when you try to pull them out, they dig into his body. Capri is surprised because he has never seen anything like this in ticks. There are also difficulties with Mercer: she accidentally steps into a hole and is slowly being pulled down by something. Valentine and Bear can pull them up. In the process she lost one of her boots. When Valentine takes out the boot, he notices that the hole is full of cobwebs. The boot was also nibbled on. One suspects a spider , but Capri rules that out because there could never be such a large spider.

You finally reach the village, which is completely deserted. You set yourself up. But Reyes is getting worse and worse. Then the ticks seem to start to eat him up from the inside and slip out of his body. Capri wants a specimen alive, but Bear shoots his friend and then the vermin.

During the night the troops are attacked by an unknown insect, which kills one of the residents. Capri finds out that it is a mutation . Then Valentine decides against Leon and Capri's decision to break off the expedition. He wants to repair the plane with Mercer, while Bear and a villager should try to establish radio contact.

Unfortunately everything turns out differently than planned. The local who accompanies Bear is killed by another insect, and Capri has left camp. He discovers a huge area full of spider webs in the jungle. Shortly afterwards, he is attacked by a giant spider. Valentine, Mercer, Susana, Leon and Toe Boy find the cobweb-wrapped skeleton of Lightfood, who turned out to be Mercer's brother, whom Mercer actually wanted to find alive. Shortly afterwards they find Capri wrapped in a cocoon . He tells that there is a giant alien spider that infected him with a neurotoxin, laid the eggs in him and the hatched larvae slowly eat him from the inside. Capri asks the followers to kill him. Although Mercer is against it, the others grant him his wish. The giant spider then appears and attacks you. They fight back, but the pistols and machine guns do nothing against the monster. So they have to flee. On the run, however, Leon is killed by the spider, Toe Boy is as if swallowed by the ground. Valentine, Mercer and Susana escape to an abandoned warehouse. Valentine is injured in the fight. Susana is losing her mind more and more. She thinks the spider is gone and pulls the door open. Thereupon the spider kills her, Valentine and Mercer escape into an underground secret passage.

After resting, the two meet Bear and Toe Boy. You want to kill the spider for good. You walk down the secret passage and discover a cave full of corpses and spider eggs. Meanwhile the spider sheds its skin in a cocoon. Mercer wants to cut this through, but fails. The spider wakes up and kills Bear. Mercer flees, but is caught by the spider. She wants to wrap Mercer in a cocoon. The injured Valentine and Toe Boy can still save them. Toe Boy repeatedly shoots poison arrows at the spider, which falls from the ceiling shortly after several shots and is impaled by a rock.

Mercer and Toe Boy support the injured Valentine and want to leave the island, but in the end it is seen that they are being watched from an ambush by a second giant spider.
