content

Jackie Chan lives with his uncle in an apartment above his antiques shop in San Francisco and works as an archaeologist for a university . One day his niece Jade Chan from Hong Kong appears in San Francisco. Since she was involved in difficulties at school several times in her home country, she should now go to school in the USA and receive help from her uncle and great-uncle.

  • Season 1 : Jackie is drafted as an archeology expert by his old friend, Captain Augustus Black, head of the secret crime-fighting organization Section 13 . A criminal organization called The Black Hand (in English: Dark Hand ) is trying to get a number of strange talismans (with symbols of the Chinese animal horoscope). What Jackie and his friends cannot know at first: The Black Hand works with the captured dragon demon Shendu and the talismans - each with its own magical power - have the ability to give him freedom again ... (13 episodes)
  • Season 2 : Banished to another dimension, Shendu tries to free himself and his demon siblings from their captivity by trying to reopen the gates through which the Eight Immortals banished them. When Jackie and the others hear of this plan, a desperate race against time begins ... (39 episodes)
  • Season 3 : An evil Chi wizard named Daolon Wong tries to take Shendu's talismans. Jackie succeeds in destroying them, but her powers are then distributed to the noblest animals all over the world. Jackie and his friends now have to find these animals and bring them to safety before Daolon Wong can absorb the powers of the talismans ... (17 episodes)
  • 4th season : Tarakudo, the lord of the shadow warriors, is looking for the Oni masks, which contain the life force of his generals, in order to bring them back to life and to take control of the earth. It is important to collect the masks before the world sinks into darkness. (13 episodes)
  • Season 5 : Draco, Shendu's son from the future, breaks out of his prison and wants to acquire the powers of Shendu's demon siblings in order to conquer the world. And he can only achieve this if he can bring various artifacts from the possession of the Eight Immortals into his possession. (13 episodes)

characters

main characters

  • Jackie Chan works as an archaeologist for a university and is a skilled kung fu fighter. Actually a very calm and peace-loving person, through Jade, Shendu and Section 13 he gets into more adventures than he can actually imagine .
  • Jade Chan is Jackie's 12 year old niece from China. Adventurous and impulsive as she is, she gets involved in every adventure and often enough gets herself and her uncle in trouble. But just as often, their ideas help them out of many tricky situations. Jackie, whom she often gives nicknames like "Jackienator", becomes a mentor and role model for her over time .
  • The uncle , a very wise, if somewhat grumpy, man and a gifted magician, runs an antique shop in San Francisco. Uncle very often helps Jackie when there is a mystery to be solved somewhere in the world, especially with regard to magic and mystical events. His name is not mentioned; Jackie and Jade always only call him "Uncle".
  • Tohru , a Japanese fighter (but not a sumo despite his immense stature ), was originally a Valmont henchman. Initially he leads the missions on behalf of Valmont, but towards the end of the first season after several failures he loses patience with him and hires Hak Foo as the new mission leader. Tohru can't cope with the new hierarchy and eventually changes sides after Jackie jokingly suggested it to him. He joins Jackie and his family and is trained in sorcery by Uncle. He is very afraid of disappointing his strict mother (known only as Mama Tohru ).
  • Augustus Black is the head of Section 13, a secret organization in San Francisco. Even if he makes a rather cool impression from the outside, he is a very good friend of Jackie Chan and supports him wherever he can in the fight against his supernatural enemies.
  • The J-Team was put together by Jade for Jackie to fight the crime. In addition to the characters already mentioned, the J-Team consists of:
  • Viper , a former thief who later gives up her criminal career and works as a security advisor;
  • El Toro Fuerte , a Mexican Lucha Libre wrestler;
  • and Paco , El Toro's young fan and student.

Opponent

  • Shendu : A dragon demon who once ruled China until he and his demon siblings were banished to another dimension by the Eight Immortals . The main source of his powers and his life force comes from twelve magical talismans that he wears in his body; each with powers that are assigned to an animal in the Chinese horoscope.
  • Valmont : The founder and head of the criminal organization Die Schwarze Hand . He makes a pact with Shendu in order to be able to enrich himself with lost treasures, but is betrayed by him and his empire falls apart. From the third season onwards, Valmont only appears as a minor character.
  • The collector ( The Enforcers ): Originally Valmont's henchmen, they will shanghait throughout the series repeatedly by demonic powers as a helper. Their incompetence throws a spanner in the works in every one of their ventures - especially when Jackie interferes with them.
  • Finn : An Irish disco and seventies freak and the leader of the collectors.
  • Ratso : A muscle man with a more childlike disposition. He likes to collect toys for a lifetime.
  • Chow : An Asian with orange glasses that are not only fashionable but also necessary (he is nearsighted).
  • Hak Foo : A mercenary and dangerous kung fu fighter who has the peculiarity of accompanying his attacks and actions with very pictorial descriptions; also known as the "Black Tiger". From the second season he becomes a member of the collectors.
  • Daolon Wong is a powerful dark chi wizard. He sees uncle as his special mortal enemy - a feeling that is mutual, since Uncle is the student of Wong's old archenemy. In the third season he becomes the main antagonist of the chans.
  • The Dark Warriors : A trio of dumb, demonic warriors under the names Gun , Run and Chui who are in Daolong Wong's service. They have the ability to telekinetically control their weapons (a giant shuriken, a hammer and a three-limbed staff ). After the Chans manage to lock these warriors in, Daolon Wong recruits Finn, Chow and Ratso (later Hak Foo) as his new Dark Warriors - which still does not improve his success rates.
  • Tarakudo : The lord of all Oni and the real master of the shadow warriors . At first it only appears as a floating demon head. After he was accidentally summoned by Daolon Wong at the beginning of the fourth season, he does everything in his power to free his nine generals, all of whom have been locked in Oni masks, and to take control of the earth.
  • The Shadow Warrior ( The Shadow Khan ): Demonic Ninja warriors that are completely subservient to the will of their masters. Most common versions of these warriors are very similar to humans, but more types of Shadowkhan will be introduced over the course of season four. At first Shendu appears as her master; their true ruler, however, is the Oni Tarakudo, whose book Shendu was once able to take to bring the Shadowkhan under his control.
  • Drago : Shendu's son, a hybrid of dragon and human. In the fourth season of the series, he and Jade's adult version appear in the present when Drago tries to free his father from Section 13 , but is stopped and imprisoned. In the fifth season, however, he manages to escape and he begins to usurp the powers of Shendu's demon siblings.
  • Bartholomew Chang : A millionaire who is obsessed with jade (which in the English original turns into a running gag between the names of Jackie's niece and the stone). Instead of his right hand, he wears an artificial prosthesis made of solid jade. After the J-Team beat him for the first time, he sees them as his special mortal enemies.
