Jacqueline Marie Cruz (born December 2, 1986 in San Mateo , California ) is a former American - Puerto Rican soccer player .

Career

As a player

In the club

Cruz started her career in 2000 with the WASA California Northstars in the NorCal Premier Soccer League . She also played for the Women Soccer Team of Notre Dame High School Belmont from autumn 2000 . In the summer of 2004, Cruz enrolled at San José State University and played for the Spartans Soccer Team. In the 2006 season she stood out for her good performances and was named Defensive Player of the Year 2007.

In September 2007 she went to California State University, East Bay , to continue her studies , where she became part of the Pioneers Women Soccer Team. In summer 2007, she played for the San Francisco Nighthawks in the Women's Premier Soccer League during the semester break . After graduating from university in 2009, she moved to California Storm for the 2010 WPSL season . On February 2, 2011, she announced her move to the German women's second division club BV Cloppenburg .

On July 19, 2012, the Puerto Rican national soccer player moved to the Magdeburg FFC. In June 2013 she returned from Magdeburg to the USA, where she will study at Arizona State University from August 2013 . At the beginning of November 2013, with the beginning of the semester break , she temporarily returned to Magdeburg and on November 10, 2013 made her comeback for the Magdeburg FFC against the reserves of VfL Wolfsburg . After playing only 15 games in her second season for Magdeburg due to injury, she left the club. In mid-August 2014 she returned to the Magdeburg FFC and played her comeback on August 24, 2014 in the DFB Cup against GSV Moers . On August 4, 2015, she announced her move to FF USV Jena , where she signed a one-year contract. After her contract expired in June 2016, Cruz left the USV Jena.

National team

Cruz has played in 12 international matches since 2010 for the Puerto Rican women's national soccer team .

As a trainer

From 2000 to 2008 Cruz worked alongside her studies and her active football career as a youth coach at the WASA Soccer Academy. In the fall of 2008, she became the new coach of the Alameda Hornets, the women soccer team at Alameda High School in San Francisco .

Personal

Cruz studied International Business from 2004 to 2006 at San José State University and Master of Business Administration from 2013 to 2015 at Arizona State University . She has been in a relationship with soccer player Kevin Nennhuber since her time in Cloppenburg . Since 2016 she has been working for the sports marketing and management company BSports, first in Jena and since winter 2016 in Mannheim , where her boyfriend played at SV Waldhof Mannheim until summer 2018 .
