Jackie Loughery

Jacqueline "Jackie" Loughery (born April 18, 1930 in Brooklyn , New York ) is an American actress and beauty queen . She became famous as the first Miss USA in 1952.

Life

Jackie Loughery was born in Brooklyn in 1930. Her career began in 1952 when she won the title in the first ever Miss USA election in Long Beach . In the elections for the first Miss Universe , which took place in the same year , she finished ninth.

In addition to prize money, Loughery received a film contract with Universal Pictures as an award for her choice as Miss USA and took the stage name Evelyn Avery , but was still mostly named under her real name in the credits. Among other things, she played the female lead in the drama The DI in 1957. The following year Loughery played the lead in the drama Wilde Jagd . In addition to these film roles, she also appeared as a guest actress in various television series such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents , Perry Mason and Bonanza . In 1969, Loughery ended her acting career. She then worked as a customer service director in a Los Angeles company . In 1970 and 1976 Loughery took part as a guest of honor in the Miss USA elections in Miami and Niagara Falls .

Jackie Loughery was married three times. From 1952 to the divorce in 1955 with the singer and actor Guy Mitchell , from 1958 to the divorce in 1964 with the actor Jack Webb and finally since 1969 with Jack W. Schwietzer, with whom she now lives in Encino .
