Jackpot is the debut album by Pietro Lombardi , who won the eighth season of the talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar in 2011 .

Emergence

After Lombardi had taken first place in Deutschland sucht den Superstar , he received a recording contract with Universal Music and thus the opportunity to release an album produced by Dieter Bohlen . This was recorded in Bohlen's recording studio in Hamburg and was given the title Jackpot , as Lombardi had used this word frequently in the casting show. The album was released on May 27, 2011 in Germany , Switzerland and Austria . In addition to the regular version, it was also released as a deluxe edition . This includes five more videos and a booklet.

Six of the twelve titles contained are cover versions that Lombardi has already sung at Deutschland sucht den Superstar . The album contains a duet with Lombardi's wife Sarah Engels . Bohlen had previously stated that he wanted to allow up to two duets with Engels, who had reached second place in Germany seeks the superstar behind Lombardi.

reception

The album sold well and reached gold status in Germany for 100,000 copies sold on the day of its release . However, it was badly received by critics. Laut.de judged the album to be “free of ideas, uninspired, cheap and loveless” and criticized Lombardi for not being able to keep the notes and to pronounce the lyrics correctly. In addition, in the opinion of the reviewer, Bohlen should have written more new songs instead of relying on cover versions.

The website MSN also criticizes Lombardi's pronunciation and his occasional overturning voice and recognizes clear similarities to older numbers in some titles. In the review, the album is referred to as a “target group-oriented DSDS album”.
