Jacqueline Medura Logan (born November 30, 1901 in Corsicana , Texas , † April 4, 1983 in Melbourne , Florida ) was an American film and stage actress .

Life

Jacqueline Logan grew up in a wealthy family in Colorado Springs . After dropping out of journalism studies, Logan went to Chicago in hopes of success as an actress, where she gained her first experience as a dancer. From 1920 she was able to gain experience as a singer in New York and appeared on Broadway in the play Florodora .

Here Logan was directed by Allan Dwan discovered that they produced in the in 1921 film A Perfect Crime as the lead actress was casting . It was the beginning of a promising career. In the 1920s alone, Logan appeared in over 50 silent films . Her most famous film was the 1927 Bible film King of Kings by director Cecil B. DeMille , in which she was seen as Maria Magdalena . In 1929 she managed to switch to talkies with her role in the film The Show of Shows by John G. Adolfi . In 1931 Logan worked as a director and shot the 46-minute short film Strictly Business in collaboration with Mary Field . In the early 1930s Logan got two roles in theater productions, most recently between September 1934 and February 1935 in Merrily We Roll Along .

Her personal life was one of the reasons her career stalled. In 1934 she married the entrepreneur Larry Winston, for whom she gave up her career. The childless marriage ended in divorce in 1947. Most recently Logan lived a life between New York and Florida and was involved in political issues. She also became a member of the anti-communist John Birch Society . In 1973, Logan appeared in front of the camera one last time in the comedy film Naughty Wives . She died at the age of 81 in Melbourne (Florida) in April 1983 and was buried in Decatur .
