Jacques-Pierre Orillard de Villemanzy
Jacques-Pierre Orillard de Villemanzy , more rarely Jacques-Pierre Orillard-Villemanzy (born January 5, 1751 in Amboise , † September 3, 1830 in Versailles ) was a French Général de division and statesman.
Life
Orillard de Villemanzy was a son of Pierre Orillard de Villemanzy and his wife Émelie Anne Delahaye. After his upbringing by private tutors, he volunteered for the royal army in 1767 at the request of his family. He was able to distinguish himself on various campaigns and was promoted several times.
In 1780 he volunteered to support the freedom fighters against the British with Marquis de La Fayette in America. Under the leadership of Marshal Jean-Baptiste-Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau , he fought with Charles Edward Jennings de Kilmaine , Pierre Belon Lapisse and Louis Le Bègue Duportail in the American Revolutionary War .
In 1783 Orillard de Villemanzy returned to France and was entrusted with several military-administrative tasks one after the other; first with the Rhine Army, later in the Italian Army . In 1796 he again volunteered for Napoleon's Italian campaign .
As a follower of Napoleon, Orillard de Villemanzy supported Napoleon even after his coup d'état of the 18th Brumaire VIII (November 9, 1799).
In 1802, Orillard de Villemanzy married Élisabeth Françoise Baudon de Mony (1774-1830) in Paris and had three daughters with her, Cécile (1803-1881), Élisabeth (1805-1857) and Mathilde (1811-1891).
On December 11, 1809, Orillard de Villemanzy was accepted as a member of the Senate . After the Battle of Paris (March 30, 1814) and Napoleon's abdication (→ Treaty of Fontainebleau ), he supported the House of Bourbon ; at the request of King Louis XVII. Orillard de Villemanzy became a member of the Chambre haute in 1815 . As a peer of France , he also belonged to the court martial at which Marshal Michel Ney condemned and on March 7, 1815 Jardin du Luxembourg shoot left.
Jacques-Pierre Orillard de Villemanzy died at the age of 79 on September 3, 1830 in Versailles, where he found his final resting place.
