Jaime Collins

Jaime Collins CSsR (originally James Collins , born February 26, 1921 in Moyvane , Ireland , † October 4, 2002 in Palmas , Brazil ) was an Irish religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Miracema do Tocantins .

Life

Jaime Collins joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists in, put on 8 September 1939, the vows , and received on 3 September 1944, the priestly ordination .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on October 27, 1966 prelate of Miracema do Norte and on August 15, 1967 titular bishop of Tetci . The Archbishop of Cashel and Emly , Thomas Morris , donated him episcopal ordination on September 14 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Donald J. Herlihy , Bishop of Ferns , and Henry Murphy , Bishop of Limerick .

On May 26, 1978 he renounced his titular bishopric as part of the new allocation guidelines of the Roman Curia . On September 17, 1981, the Pope elevated the territorial prelature to a diocese and appointed him first bishop of Miracema do Norte. Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation on February 14, 1996.
