Jakob Friedrich von Briest

Jakob Friedrich Heinrich von Briest (born November 8, 1695 at Nennhausen Castle ; † June 18, 1768 ibid) was a Prussian major general and commander of the "Hessen-Darmstadt" infantry regiment .

Life

origin

He was the son of Georg Christoph von Briest (* November 27, 1660 - September 7, 1715) and his wife Anna, born von Stedern (* December 19, 1666 - September 16, 1762 in Spandau). His father was a gentleman on Nennhausen and Bamme and district administrator of the West Havel district.

Military career

Briest was employed in 1708 as a Junker in the infantry regiment "Margrave Heinrich" of the Prussian Army . By June 1724 he was promoted to captain and company commander . In the following years Briest asked several times for his dimission , which King Friedrich Wilhelm I refused each time. He took the regiment 1744/45 on Second Silesian War in part, was on May 27, 1751 regimental commander and finally received on 24 April 1756 the character as a major general in his resignation.

family

On July 17, 1729, he married Dorothea Regina von Düringshofen († August 3, 1737) from the Pinnow family. The couple had a daughter:

  • Florine Juliane Friederike (* July 17, 1737 - January 18, 1808)

His second wife was Henriette Wilhelmine von Münchow (* 1721; † October 13, 1793) in 1743 . The couple had the following children:

  • Friedrich Ludwig Christopher (around 1746; † July 8, 1763)
  • Dorothea Elisabeth Wilhelmine († July 21, 1811) ⚭ July 7, 1770 with Friedrich Otto Gustav von Kleist (1744–1794), son of Franz Ulrich von Kleist
