Jakob Kasimir Hellrigl

Jakob Kasimir Hellrigl , known as Candy Ken (born July 27, 1992 in Bregenz , Austria ) is an Austrian rapper, model and artist.

Life

Jakob Kasimir Hellrigl grew up in Bregenz. For a year he attended Wenatchee High School in Wenatchee , where he played soccer. He studied photography and film design in the vocational school of the Lette Association in Berlin , but dropped out in 2014. During his studies he developed the gender-neutral fictional character "Candy Ken". In this fictional character he combined images of Hello Kitty with Japanese kawaii culture, Barbie dolls and pink clothes in his clothing style and visual appearance.

He started his rap career in Berlin. He released his first EP , Welcome to Candy Land, in 2014 as a self-directed video series on YouTube . The music was recorded by Lets Go Radio and published by Spinnup .

The first series was re-shot as a short video series with the title “Welcome to Candy Land”. These won a prize at the Austrian short film festival Alpinale in 2015.

In September 2015 he released his second EP entitled "Candy Ken Paradise", which was produced by DJ Smokera and distributed by Spinnup.

In November 2015 he released an EP called "Daddy 69". This contains five songs and five videos. Four videos were created by him. The fifth video, for the song "69", was shot by London- based Kassandra Powell .

In June 2016 he released the album "Real Talk" - the first one with twelve songs. Ten of them were produced in cooperation with the rapper Gigi Tays . The release was promoted with a party at the Visions Video Bar in London. The album was also produced by Smokera and the video for the song "What I Like" was produced by, directed by Powell. Candy Ken describes the American rapper Riff Raff as his role model and inspiration for his albums.

Modeling

Jakob Kasimir Hellrigl started his modeling career when he was discovered on Instagram by the stylist and Diesel brand designer Nicola Formichetti in 2015 . He invited Hellrigl to a photo shoot for Formichetti's Japanese magazine "Free". Formichetti introduced Hellrigl to photographer Terry Richardson . He did a photo shoot with him, including a frontal nude photo for the magazine “ Man about Town ”. At the same time he was booked as a model by Diesel for the Pride Week in New York City . It also walked the catwalk for the opening of Roberto Piquera's fashion show at the Berlin Alternative Design Week . He also modeled for the Japanese fashion designer Michiko Koshino . He did photo shoots for the magazine " VMAN " " Paper ", the " Vogue " and the Taiwanese and Korean versions of " Dazed ".
