Jakob Müller (politician, 1878)

Jakob Müller (* 9. November 1878 in Hundwil , † 31 May 1949 Stein AR ; heimatberechtigt ibid ) was a Swiss mayor , Cantonal and farmer from the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes .

Life

Jakob Müller was the son of Jakob Müller, farmer and landlord , and Katharina Schoch. In 1903 he married Anna Alder, tailor , daughter of Johann Jakob, Wagner .

Müller worked as a farmer. He took over his father's farm, including the whey grocery shop and the carriage (cessation of the whey trade around 1920 ). He began to be interested in politics and from 1907 to 1914 took a seat on the local council in Stein. From 1924 to 1938 Meyer served as mayor . He was also a member of the Ausserrhoder Cantonal Council from 1918 to 1942 and of the Commission for Agriculture and Forestry in 1918 from 1942 . From 1936 to 1942 Meyer was also a member of the Cantonal Bank's commission . From 1920 to 1949 he was a member of the board of the cantonal agricultural association and from 1929 he took on the role of president . He was also a board member of the Swiss Brown Swiss Breeding Association, the Swiss Working Group for Mountain Farmers and the Swiss Farmers Association .

Meyer was a committed farmer politician with a conservative disposition. He always tried to promote cattle breeding . Meyer is a co-founder of the Stein Agricultural Association, the Appenzell Cattle Breeding Association and the Appenzell Milk Producers Association.
