Jakob Müller (politician, 1869)

Jakob Xaver Müller (born July 25, 1869 in Romoos ; † September 29, 1933 ) was a Swiss politician belonging to the Catholic Conservatives and a member of the Swiss National Council .

Müller was born in Romoos in 1869. His parents Johann and Anna, geb. Thalmann, were mountain farmers in Scheienboden. He attended the teacher training college in Hitzkirch from 1885 to 1888 and then worked for two years as a teacher in and Romoos. In 1890 he passed the parish clerk examination and became parish clerk in Romoos. Müller held this position until 1923. In 1900 he was first a municipal administrator and, from 1915, finally a municipal administrator in Romoos. In addition, he was school inspector for the Entlebuch and Schüpfheim districts from 1901 to 1921, and in 1902 he became President of the State Tax Commission in the Escholzmatt district . In 1907 Müller became district commander in Entlebuch and in 1908 a member of the Holy Cross Commission as a community representative. In 1909 he was elected as a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Lucerne . In 1928 he was elected to the Swiss National Council. In 1931 he gave up his position as mayor and district commander and left the Cross Commission. Müller died on September 29, 1933 on the way home from a session of the National Council from Bern to Langnau near Reiden .

From 1896 Jakob Müller was married to Anna Rosa Unternährer, a daughter of the Baptist, teacher, administrator and justice of the peace.
