Jakob Meinrad Hegner

Jakob Meinrad Hegner (born September 8, 1813 in Lachen , † December 7, 1879 there ) was a Swiss politician . From 1854 to 1857 he was a member of the National Council.

biography

The son of a miller attended the monastery school in Rheinau , later the grammar schools in Lucerne and Solothurn . He then studied law at the Universities of Heidelberg and Jena . After completing his studies, he received further training from Johann Baptist Weder in St. Gallen , and in 1837 he opened his own law firm in Lachen, where he also served as a local councilor .

During the Sonderbund War in November 1847, Hegner was quartermaster of the troops of the canton of Schwyz . After the end of the war he was elected to the Constitutional Council and the Schwyz Grand Council as a representative of the Liberals , but resigned after a year. After he had been district commander of March from 1852 , he sat again in the Grand Council from 1854 to 1858. Hegner ran successfully in the National Council elections in 1854 and had five votes ahead of Johann Anton Steinegger , three years later he clearly missed re-election. From 1862 to 1870 he was substitute judge of the federal court .
