Jakob Schubert (born December 31, 1990 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian sports climber who is successful both on the rock and in competitions in difficulty climbing and bouldering . In the climbing world championship in 2018 in Innsbruck, he won the gold medal in lead climbing - as well as in combination contest.
Career
Schubert started climbing at the age of 12, and in 2004 he competed for the first time. In the following year, he was able to win the Austrian championship in youth B and take second place behind David Lama at the youth world championship in Beijing . He won his first men's title in 2008 when he won the Austria Cup, followed later in the World Cup a . a. two daily victories and a second place in the overall ranking. In 2011 he won the overall World Cup in lead and overall. He achieved his most difficult routes on natural rock in January 2015 and January 2016 in Spain with ( Fight or Flight , level of difficulty 9b ) and ( La Planta de Shiva , level of difficulty 9b ). In January 2018 he also managed the third ascent of the Stoking the Fire (9b) route in Santa Linya. His most difficult ascent was in November 2019 with the ascent of Perfecto Mundo ( level of difficulty 9b +), which was previously only made by Stefano Ghisolfi and Alexander Megos .
Schubert is a sports soldier in Innsbruck , member of the national squad and is trained by the Austrian national coach Reinhold Scherer .
