Jakob Wolf (pedagogue)

Jakob Wolf (born February 19, 1654 in Wittstock / Dosse ; † July 15, 1723 in Stralsund ) was a German educator.

Life

Wolf was the son of the archdeacon Jakob Wolf in Wittstock. He received his school education 1669–1673 at the grammar school in Wismar and at the Katharineum in Lübeck . Afterwards Wolf studied theology and philosophy at the University of Rostock from Easter 1673 to 1675 . After completing his studies, he became rector at the school in Templin in 1675 and rector in Wittstock in 1679. In 1681 he became vice rector in Greifswald. In 1682 he received his master's degree from the University of Greifswald . He gave the early sermons in Greifswald . His good reputation as a schoolboy and preacher meant that the council of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund appointed him as vice-principal at the Sundisches Gymnasium in 1687 . From 1697 until his death he was the principal of this school. He also represented the sick superintendent D. Goßmann as a preacher. His successor as Rector in Stralsund was Christoph Pyl .
