The Jalovec is a mountain in the Julian Alps in Slovenia with a height of 2645  m. i. J. Jalovec stands on three valleys , which it towers above. This is the first Planicatal , the Trenta and Koritnicatal . The Soča river rises below the peak of Jalovec . There are several ways of ascent. All of them are long and all of them have to be climbed, sometimes on via ferratas .

First ascent

In 1875 Karl Wurmb climbed the summit with two mountain guides (Crnuta and Strgulc) from the Koritnica valley. In 1878 Karl Blodig first climbed the mountain from the Trenta valley. In 1884 Julius Kugy and the mountain guide Andrej Komac climbed Jalovec from the Planica valley. The northeast face was conquered by Ferdinand Horn in 1909 .
