Jamar Abrams (born June 21, 1989 in Richmond , Virginia ) is an American basketball player .

Career

Abrams attended high school in Highland Springs, near his birthplace Richmond , before going to East Carolina University in 2007 . There he played four years for the Pirates in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . By the time he graduated from college, he was ranked # 1 in the team's all-time rankings for games played, 17th for points scored, and 5th for three-point throws . He then moved to the Maine Red Claws in the American NBA D-League , but was only used in 9 games. In 2012 he moved to London Lightning in the newly founded National Basketball League of Canada (NCL). He won the slam dunk competition and the Canadian championship in its debut season. He then played in Japan, Slovenia and Romania.

For the 2017/18 season he moved to the Gießen 46ers in the German basketball league . There he completed 32 games for the Hessians and was named BBL Slam Dunk Champion at the BBL All-Star Game . In the summer of 2018 Abrams moved to league competitor Science City Jena , where he was supposed to act as a combo forward . While he was still preparing, he suffered a ruptured capsule in his right ankle during a test match against ratiopharm Ulm , which meant that he missed the first games of the new season. It was not until mid-November that he was able to play his first competitive game for the people of Saale and scored 17 points in the 88:81 away win against BG Göttingen . After a series of 11 defeats in a row, the club separated from Abrams, who then joined the Belarusian champion Zmoki Minsk .
