James Bond 007: The Duel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

James Bond 007: The Duel is a video game not based on any James Bond film and was programmed in 1993 for the Sega Mega Drive and Master System consoles .

action

On a desert island, the mad scientist Dr. Gravemar started to construct a missile that he wanted to send towards London. James Bond is sent there and is supposed to stop him. Bond lands on the madman's luxury yacht and blows it up. He does the same with a system in the jungle, the laboratories and the missile silos. In each level, Bond has to free a number of women. When everyone is free, he has to find the bomb, detonate it and escape. Well-known opponents like the Beisser and Baron Samedi face him as the final boss.

technology

Like many Sega games of its time, the game consists of four levels. Bond initially has five lives represented by hearts. When all are used up, the game is considered lost. The 007 is the only weapon that has its Walther PPK. But it has to be reloaded regularly. Some enemies killed leave magazines behind. In some places there are also cases hidden with grenades that Bond can use as a second weapon.

particularities

  • The character is modeled after Timothy Dalton , who was reigning Bond actor until 1994.
  • The picture of the front of the packaging was the poster announcing License to Kill (1989).
  • The plot was based on Ian Fleming's original Moonraker novel , in which villain Hugo Drax wanted to fire a V2 rocket towards London. This was rewritten as a space adventure in the movie of the same name .
