from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Operation Stealth is a point-and-click adventure from software manufacturer Delphine Software International . It appeared in 1990 for Commodore Amiga , Atari ST and the IBM PC by US Gold . In the US it was distributed under the title James Bond: The Stealth Affair .

action

The secret agent John Glames is disguised as a tourist and sent to South America to retrieve an F-19 stealth bomber from the US military base in Miramar . As soon as he arrives at the destination airport in Santa Paragua, the problems begin, because the KGB is also looking for the missing plane. Fortunately, Glames has a special agent case that contains all kinds of technical gadgets that help him out of tricky situations again and again.

Gameplay

The game is a classic point-and-click adventure game in which the player plays the role of secret agent John Glames. He moves the figure indirectly through the game world by clicking on certain positions on the screen, collecting objects, holding conversations and solving logic and combination puzzles typical of the genre. A pop-up menu with six verbs is available to the player for this. In addition to the classic adventure puzzles, the game continues in several arcade sequences.

background

In the US, the game was released under a license as an official James Bond game under the title James Bond: The Stealth Affair . In addition to the title, only minor adjustments were made to the game, so that the two versions hardly differ. The main character John Glames became James Bond, instead of working for the CIA he works for MI6 , but was "loaned" to the CIA. Other characters from the official James Bond series do not appear. Since the game is already heavily influenced by James Bond in the original version, there are still some additions typical of James Bond adventures, e.g. B. the secret agent's tuxedo, exotic locations, beautiful women and gadgets.

Delphine had already used the interface used in this game in her debut work Future Wars: Time Travelers . It has been improved a bit and now also allows you to examine or combine items in the inventory.

When it was released in Germany, the game cost around 90 D-Marks.

The game was then marketed as a "Cinematique" adventure, which means nothing more than that you control the game completely with the mouse - without a keyboard , which was not yet common when the game was released in Adventures.

The Amiga Joker magazine gave an overall rating of 87 percent and judged: "All in all, Operation Stealth is a first-class game."
