James Edward Bradford ( Jim Bradford ) (born November 1, 1928 in Washington - † September 13, 2013 in Silver Spring , Maryland , USA ) was an American weightlifter .

Life

Jim Bradford began weightlifting in New York in 1944 and was a member of the well-known York Barbell Club, which was managed by Bob Hoffman , a mentor of American weightlifting of the time, including Thomas Kono . In 1950 he won the US Junior Championship and started in 1951 for the first time, and in 1960 for the last time at an international championship. He never managed to win the title, he was runner-up six times. Jim Bradford always accepted this calmly and in a sporty fair manner. In his prime, his "combat weight" was around 130 kg.

Jim Bradford was American heavyweight champion in 1953, 1960 and 1961.
