James Ellsworth Morris (born December 11, 1984 in Glen Burnie , Maryland , USA ) is an American wrestler who was under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment until 2017 . There he appeared as James Ellsworth .

Career

Beginnings and independent leagues (2002-2016)

By his own admission, he's been a huge fan of the WWE program since childhood . After graduating from school in 2002, Axl Rotten began training at the wrestling school. He is said to have played one of his first matches against Mickie James . In the indie area, James Ellsworth appeared under the name Jimmy Dream, and he was occasionally nicknamed Pretty . Together with his long-time tag team partner Adam Ugly, they competed as Pretty Ugly . They won several local championships and competed in such leagues as First State Wrestling , American Combat Wrestling, and Big Time Wrestling . His greatest success as a single wrestler was winning the cruiserweight title at Covey Promotions and Maximum Championship Wrestling, and winning the UCW Heavyweight Championship three times.

In 2009 he founded the independent promotion Adrenaline Championship Wrestling . As a promoter, he managed to book wrestlers like Bret Hart , Gillberg, Scott Hall , Lita and Maria Kannelis. In addition to his work at WWE, he continues to work as an independent wrestler.

World Wrestling Entertainment (2016-2017)

He made his first appearance in the WWE in 2014, as one of Adam Rose's helpers. As a so-called "Rosebud" he performed regularly for a few months near his hometown Baltimore before the gimmick was dropped.

On July 25, 2016, he was booked for a match as a jobber and played his first match in the WWE against Braun Strowman on Raw . Before the match he was allowed to hold a promo for which he was given creative freedom. The actual match, on the other hand, was a squash match in which the slender Ellsworth was dispatched within a minute by former strongman Braun Strowman. But through his courageous appearance Ellsworth played himself in the hearts of the audience. He immediately became an internet phenomenon and his sentence " Every man with two hands has a fighting chance " (in German, for example: "Every person with two healthy hands has a chance to win") became a popular phrase. Its unusual appearance contributed to its further popularity. Not only is Ellsworth quite skinny compared to other wrestlers, he also has a receding chin . WWE viewers then used Twitter and Facebook to ask officials to sign Ellsworth, which actually happened.

His second appearance took place on September 13, 2016. This time it wasn't used on Raw, but on SmackDown . There he should compete as a mystery partner at the side of AJ Styles , who at that time had not found a partner to compete against John Cena and Dean Ambrose . It never came to this match because The Miz attacked him on the way to the ring.

He then became an integral part of the feud between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose. Ellsworth was able to defeat then WWE Champion AJ Styles, with the help of Dean Ambrose, three times. Amid the feud, Ellsworth became an integral part of the SmackDown roster. On December 4, 2016 at the PPV TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs , Ellsworth attacked Dean Ambrose when he cost him the win over AJ Styles for the WWE Championship . With that, Ellsworth did gymnastics to heel contrary to expectations . At the December 20, 2016 edition of SmackDown, Ellsworth lost a squash match to AJ Styles, which ended the feud.

Since January 3, 2017, he has appeared on the side of Carmella , where he represents her helping hand and no longer appears as a wrestler. He intervenes in matches in their favor. For example, he climbed the ladder at WWE Money in the Bank in 2017 and secured the suitcase for Carmella in the first Money-in-the-Bank women’s match. He also intervened in their favor at a scheduled rematch.

On November 15, 2017, WWE announced Ellsworth's dismissal.

Return to WWE (2018)

On June 17, 2018, Ellsworth made a surprise return to the WWE at the WWE Money in the Bank payperview event . He helped Carmella defend her WWE SmackDown Women's Championship against Asuka by showing up at the ring disguised as the one and distracting her. Ellsworth established himself again as a Heel and got back into the relationship with Carmella. However, he did not sign a new contract with the WWE, but was paid after appearances. He stayed with the WWE until the feud between Carmella and Asuka ended. After the feud, according to the storyline, he was killed on SmackDown Live! On July 24, 2018 . Dismissed by the Smackdown general manager Paige after he interrupted her and later insulted her for refusing to give him a title match for the WWE Championship. So ended his temporary return to WWE.

Independence scene (since 2018)

Since January 2018 Ellsworth has competed in numerous wrestling leagues. On January 21, 2018, he won the Santino Cobra Cup at Destiny World Wrestling . On February 20, Ellsworth created his own wrestling title with the World Intergender Championship. He declared himself the first champion and has since defended his self-created title in numerous wrestling leagues against wrestlers. The first title defense followed two days after its introduction, namely on February 22nd at BAR Wrestling , where he successfully defended his title against Joey Ryan. On April 1, 2018, he and Gillberg won the ACW Tag Team Championship at Adrenaline Championship Wrestling .
