There were Uno from Troil , John Gore and Daniel Solander .
In 1775 Lind developed his manometric anemometer as a further development of the Pitot tube from 1721. In 1777 he became a member of the Royal Society and in 1783 of the Royal Society of Edinburgh . As an enlightened polymath , he was interested in anthropology , astronomy, botany, chemistry, cryptography, mechanical engineering, geology, meteorology and physics and researched in these areas. He was married to Anne Elizabeth Mealy (1755-1803). Her son, Alexander Francis Lind (* 1797 in Windsor, † 1832 in Bengal, India) later described the father's study as crammed with telescopes, galvanic batteries and other electrical machines.
Lind became a scientific advisor to selected students at Eton College , such as Percy Bysshe Shelley from 1805 to 1811 , whose later wife he may have used as a model for Dr. Frankenstein served.
