James Matthew Wingle

James Matthew Wingle (born September 23, 1946 in Eganville ) is Old Bishop of Saint Catharines .

Life

James Matthew Wingle was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Pembroke on April 16, 1977 . After working in pastoral care, he studied moral theology at the Accademia Alfonsiana in Rome. On his return he taught at St. Augustine's Seminary in Toronto , which he directed from 1987 to 1993 as Regens .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Yarmouth on May 31, 1993 . The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Austin Emile Burke of Halifax on August 24 of that year; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Aloysius Matthew Ambrozic of Toronto and Bishop Joseph Raymond Windle of Pembroke .

He was appointed Bishop of Saint Catharines on November 9, 2001, and was introduced to the office on January 24 of the next year. He resigned from his office on April 7, 2010.
