Life

Bejšovec spent his youth in the GDR , which u. a. reflected in themes and textile materials.

Artistic work

Under the label KONFLIKTSTOFF, Bejšovec takes on the artistic approach to political and social issues. The representational and often provocative representation is deliberately broken by the textile medium. In order to reinforce the authenticity of the motifs, he uses a. Military textiles such as tarpaulins, effects and uniform parts. In addition to the political message of the works, the reference to the long tradition of textile handicrafts in the aristocratic propaganda and military area is important to him. In addition, the artist tries to draw attention to historically interesting and relevant places through textile installations .

Bejšovec is a representative of the modern dawn of textile art, in which traditional handicraft techniques are combined with the use of the computer and ancient motifs with the influences of street art and stencil art . Due to the predominant use of elaborate hand embroidery even on large-format pictures, the templates are converted into a textile picture relief. Modern image processing software enables the implementation of photographically precise embroidery templates. The textile image is always done by hand, i. H. created in hand embroidery or sewing machine application. Bejšovec deliberately refrains from using “embroidery robots”, which convert a scanned motif into machine embroidery. The often months of manual work on a picture and the irregularity of the embroidery achieve a higher level of authenticity, which is further supported by the use of fabrics in the context of the motif.

2014 Bejšovec was the national chairman of the Union of victims' associations Communist tyranny Rainer Wagner for sedition displayed. The reason was the work “Total Theorist”, which shows the director of the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial , Hubertus Knabe , with a “worker fist” raised in a Hitler salute and a raised clenched fist. Bejsovec declared that he was not attacking Hubertus Knabe personally, but rather the totalitarian theory he advocated. The Berlin public prosecutor's office rejected the criminal complaint with reference to the specially protected freedom of art.
