Holze began his involvement in sport in 1995 as a youth spokesman for SV Fortuna 50 Neubrandenburg , where he played handball for ten years. Between 1998 and 2012 Holze was an honorary member of the board of the Sportjugend Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the state sports association Mecklenburg-Vorpommern .

From 2005 to 2011 he was a representative of the German National Committee for International Youth Work on the Council of Members of the European Youth Forum , from 2005 to 2015 he was chairman of the youth organization of ENGSO, a pan-European organization for national sports associations and / or national Olympic committees, and from 2015 to 2017 ENGSO Vice President. In October 2016, Holze was elected chairman of the German Sports Youth (DSJ) with 97.5 percent of the votes in a secret ballot as the successor to Ingo Weiss , after he had previously been deputy chairman of the DSJ since 2010. As DSJ chairman, he automatically moved into the presidium of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the board of the German Olympic Academy Willi Daume .

In the German Sports Youth , Holze advocates an open approach in sport to the issues of child protection and the prevention of sexual violence. In an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung he demanded that “child protection in sport [...] is non-negotiable”. He also campaigned against a compulsory social year and instead advocated a legal right for young people to do voluntary service. He is also committed to international youth exchanges through the medium of sport, especially with France, Russia, Israel and Japan. He is the deputy chairman of the advisory board in the Franco-German Youth Office and in the board of trustees of the German-Russian Youth Exchange Foundation .

Establishment of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern volunteer foundation

In June 2015, Holze was entrusted as full-time managing director to set up a foundation in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to support voluntary work. The request of the state government headed by Prime Minister Erwin Sellering was initially under considerable public criticism. However, it was possible to clarify the usefulness of the voluntary foundation. The volunteer office makes use of the support options provided by the MV Volunteer Foundation. In addition, Holze built connections between the members of the state government responsible for voluntary work and civil society in order to improve the voluntary work in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In addition, Holze is involved in the state committee of foundations for the foundation system in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
