Jan Klapáč

Jan Klapáč (born February 27, 1941 in Prague ) is a former Czechoslovak national ice hockey player who played for ASD Dukla Jihlava in the top division of Czechoslovakia , the 1st division , for 14 years and became world champion with the national team of the ČSSR in 1972 and one silver each - and won a bronze medal at the Winter Olympics.

Career

Jan Klapáč began his career at Dynamo Karlovy Vary and made his debut for Dynamo in the top division of the ČSSR at the age of 16. In 1961 he moved to ASD Dukla Jihlava due to his military service and played for this club in the top division of the ČSSR until 1975. With Dukla he became Czechoslovak series champion before moving to TJ Škoda Plzeň in the mid-1970s . In total, he scored 185 goals in 453 league games.

With the Czechoslovak national team Klapáč took from 1964 to 1973 in almost all international tournaments and won in 1968 at the Olympic Winter Games silver medal, the same applies as Vice World Champion title. Four years later, at the 1972 World Cup , he became world champion with the national team. He scored nine goals and six assists in 10 World Cup games.

Both with Dukla Jihlava, as well as in the national team, he usually played together with the brothers Jaroslav and Jiří Holík in a row. Overall, Jan Klapáč scored 56 goals in 110 international matches for the ČSSR.

Jan Klapáč is the maternal grandfather of the ski racer and snowboarder Ester Ledecká , her brother Jonáš Ledecký , artist, comic designer and musician, and the father-in-law of the pop musician Janek Ledecký .
