Jan Nepomuk Škroup

Jan Nepomuk Škroup (born September 15, 1811 in Wositz , Königgrätzer Kreis , † May 5, 1892 in Prague ) was a Czech composer .

The son of Josef Dominik Škroup and brother of František Škroup had been choirmaster at the Kreuzherrenkirche in Prague since 1838 , and later second conductor at the Estates Theater . In 1845 he became choir director at St. Vitus Cathedral , in 1846 teacher at the theological seminary.

He composed several operas and church music , including some masses . He also published a singing school.
