Janina Ramirez also Nina Ramirez (* 1980 in Reading , England ) is a British- English cultural and art historian , TV presenter and lecturer .

Life

Janina Ramirez was born into an Irish - Polish , Roman Catholic family. Her interest in English literature began at a young age with a specialization in Old and Middle English . She holds a degree in English Linguistics from St Anne's College . She worked in the field of medieval studies at the University of York , where she lectured on art history. She publishes specialist articles in the journal Gesta . Janina Ramirez has lectured on her research at the University of Warwick and the University of Winchester . In her doctoral thesis, she dealt with the history of art and literature in an interdisciplinary manner; her main topic was the symbolism of the bird in Anglo-Saxon art history.

Ramirez is scientifically active in the fields of palaeography and archeology as well as linguistically in the field of Latin . She teaches art history at Oxford University . For the BBC , she has hosted many history documentaries that have been broadcast on BBC2 and BBC4 . The TV documentaries deal mainly with English history , with the sacred art and cultural history of the Anglo-Saxons and Normans in Great Britain in the focus of their research results, which are brought closer to the general public. In addition, Ramirez published a TV documentary about Saint Juliana of Norwich with the BBC . The documentary The Hundred Years War was broadcast in German-speaking countries in December 2015 on ZDFinfo .

Private

Janina Ramirez is the mother of two children, a daughter and a son. Her husband is Spanish . She lives with her family in Woodstock , near Oxford.
