He made his debut for the second on August 4, 2010, when he came on on the second match day of the Hessenliga against RSV Waldgirmes in the 65th minute, when the score was 1-0 for Kickers Offenbach II for Zahit Findik and after 12 minutes the Hit to 2-0 marked. The reserve team of Kickers Offenbach won the game 4-0. In the following years he was also used for the professional team. He made his professional debut on April 16, 2011, when he came on as a substitute for Alexander Huber in the 73rd minute in a 2-0 win against Wacker Burghausen on matchday 33 . 14 May 2011, the 38th match day, summer also succeeded in his first assist of the professional football world when he at the 2: 3 defeat against SG Dynamo Dresden was in the starting line-up and in the 45th minute goal from Mirnes Mesic to 1: 2 prepared. In the meantime he came to the reserve to a total of 26 missions, in which he scored a total of nine hits. He was also particularly noticeable as a template. For the 2013/2014 season, Sommer moved to Eintracht Frankfurt and was there in the second team . For the first half of the 2014/15 season he moved to SVN Zweibrücken in the Regionalliga Südwest . During the winter break, he moved to league rivals FK Pirmasens .

Sommer has been playing for SV Waldhof Mannheim since the 2015/16 season . With the club he won the championship at the end of the season, but missed promotion to the 3rd division after losing promotion games against Sportfreunde Lotte . In the 2016/17 season , he and his team qualified for the playoffs again as runner-up in the table and lost to SV Meppen there . The season 2017/18 Summer ended with Mannheim again, however, as runners, the subsequent rise of games lost to KFC Uerdingen 05 . In the following season he and the team secured the early championship on matchday 30, which meant safe promotion to the third division . His contract, which expired at the end of the season, was not extended, however, so Sommer switched to regional league club FC 08 Homburg for the 2019/20 season , where he signed a two-year contract until 2021.
