Janus Robberts

Janus Robberts (actually Jan Mattheus Robberts ; born June 30, 1972 in Louis Trichardt ) is a former South African shot putter who was also successful as a discus thrower .

1998 in Annecy he was runner-up junior world champion.

In 1999 he retired from qualifying at the World Athletics Championships in Seville and won silver at the Pan-African Games in Johannesburg . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he was seventh, at the 2001 World Cup in Edmonton eleventh.

In 2002 he won silver in the shot put at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester and was seventh in the discus throw. At the African Championships in Radès , he won both disciplines. The following year he failed in the preliminary round at the 2003 World Cup in Paris / Saint-Denis. In 2004 he defended his shot put at the African Championships in Brazzaville , but did not get past the first round at the Olympic Games in Athens . At the 2005 World Cup in Helsinki he failed to qualify for a valid attempt.

In 2006 he won the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and won silver at the African Championships in Bambous . In 2008 a bronze medal followed at the African Championships in Addis Ababa .
