Janusz rider
Janusz Stanisław Reiter (born August 6, 1952 in Kościerzyna ) is a Polish diplomat , Germanist and journalist of Kashubian origin. Reiter served as Poland's ambassador to Germany from 1990–1995 and as ambassador to the USA from 2005–2007 .
After graduating from high school, Reiter studied German in Warsaw in the 1970s . He completed his studies with a master's thesis on Hermann Hesse . In 1977 he started working as an editor for the Polish daily Życie Warszawy . After General Wojciech Jaruzelski declared martial law in Poland in 1981 , Reiter published political articles under pseudonyms and took part in the work of various political opposition groups. During this activity he met the future Prime Minister Tadeusz Mazowiecki , who appointed him Polish ambassador to Germany after taking office in 1989. He was an ambassador in Bonn from 1990 to 1995. In 1996 he founded the Center for International Relations in Warsaw and works as a commentator for the daily Rzeczpospolita .
On October 3, 2005, he was sworn in as Poland's ambassador to the United States. At the end of October 2007 he left this office. He is currently advising the Polish government as a climate ambassador. He is also a member of the supervisory board of the Vattenfall energy group .
