Around Utsunomiya a circuit of 14 laps of 10.3 kilometers each had to be tackled. On each lap you climbed Mount Kogashi , a two-kilometer climb, at the beginning of each lap. This was followed by a descent. In the end, the last two kilometers were uphill.
