Jaroslav (III.) Von Sternberg (Czech Jaroslav ze Šternberka , † 1492 ) came from the Bohemian noble family Sternberg . He was governor of Upper Lusatia and Lower Lusatia .

Life

Jaroslav von Sternberg was the eldest son of Zdenko von Sternberg , who had led the opposition to King George of Podebrady . 1467 he was a legate to Landvogt and governor of Oberlausitzer Six cities collar used. He took rigorous action against supporters of King George of Podebrady and in 1468, after a long siege, conquered the city of Hoyerswerda and had the castle destroyed. In 1469 Jaroslav von Sternberg was officially installed in office after the establishment of the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus as the Bohemian anti-king and also appointed as governor of Lower Lusatia.

Since the nobility in Upper Lusatia increasingly complained about Jaroslav's arrogant behavior, King Matthias probably deposed him there in early 1471. Jaroslav von Sternberg stayed in Lower Lusatia until the beginning of 1477. After that, he lived in Hoyerswerda for a few years and then went to Bohemia, where he died in 1492.
