Jarryd Hughes (born May 21, 1995 in Wahroonga ) is an Australian snowboarder . He starts in snowboard cross.

Career

Hughes participated in the Nor-Am Cup from 2010 to 2012. He drove his first World Cup race in February 2012 in Stoneham , which he finished in tenth place. At the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2012 in Sierra Nevada , he won silver in snowboard cross. At the Snowboard World Championships 2013 in Stoneham , he came 11th. In December 2013 he won his first and so far only World Cup race in Lake Louise .

In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , Hughes came 17th. He finished the season in fourth place in the snowboard cross ranking. At the Snowboard World Championships 2015 on Kreischberg he came in 31st place. The following year he won the gold medal at the Winter X Games 2016 . In the 2016/17 season he achieved four top ten placements in the World Cup, including second place in Feldberg and seventh place in the snowboard cross world cup at the end of the season. At the season highlight of the 2017 Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada , he came in 34th.

In December 2017, Hughes won the 2017/18 World Cup race in snowboard cross in Schruns . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he won the silver medal in snowboard cross. The following year he finished 35th at the World Championships in Park City .
