The Jasiołka (originally Jasieł ) is a 76 km long right tributary of the Wisłoka in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland . It flows west past the town of Krosno .
The name is derived from the ancient Slavonic * (j) eš- ( bright, clear ; Indo-European * aidh-s-) because the mountain river had light, rocky bottom. The names of the towns Jasło and Jaśliska are probably derived from the original name of the river. According to historians, Jasiołka was a border river between Poland and the principality of Halych-Volodymyr until around 1340. The border could be an echo of the division of the influences of Bohemia and the Kievan Rus in the ancestral region of the Wislanes or Lendizi in the 10th century.
