Jason Gregory Boone (born October 8, 1985 in Sugar Loaf , New York ) is a retired American basketball player . He played 277 games in the basketball league in Germany and was under contract with teams in other European leagues. In 2010 he won the European Cup EuroChallenge with the BG Göttingen .

Career

Jason Boone began his career at Warwick Valley High School in New York State . In 2003 he moved to New York University from the third division of the NCAA. In his four years at NYU, he broke the college's record in blocked throws and was the seventh-best scorer in NYU basketball team history at the time of his departure.

After the end of his university career, coach Torsten Schierenbeck brought him to SSV Lok Bernau in the German regional league in 2007 . With good performances he drew the attention of a club from the basketball league : Through Ben Jacobson , contact was made with BG 74 Göttingen , which was looking for an inside player in spring 2008. Göttingen's coach John Patrick gave Boone a chance, so he moved from the regional league to the Bundesliga during his first season as a professional. Despite the big leap into the basketball league to BG 74 Göttingen, he managed to establish himself thanks to his powerful style of play. He also became a favorite of the Göttingen supporters. In the Bundesliga season 2008/09 he scored 4.38 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, while he delivered an average of a remarkable 9.61 points and 6.6 rebounds in the 2009/10 season. With the BG Göttingen he won the EuroChallenge in 2010 and thus only the third title win of a German team in an official European club competition.

In 2011 he moved to the newly promoted S.Oliver Baskets in Würzburg, as did his coach John Patrick and his teammate John Little. Boone ran for Würzburg until summer 2014. After relegation Boone left Germany and joined the Turkish first division club Konya Selcuk . In March 2015 he moved to the French first division club Boulogne-sur-Mer, where he worked until the end of the 2014/15 season. For the 2015/16 season he returned to the Bundesliga and plays there, as in Göttingen and Würzburg, under coach John Patrick for the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg .

On February 15, 2017, Boone used an exit clause to prematurely terminate his contract in Ludwigsburg and switch to the Polish first division club TBV Start Lublin .

In July 2017 he was signed by the Romanian first division club Steaua Bucharest . During the 2017/18 season he was used in 20 games in the Romanian first division and scored an average of 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per encounter. In August 2018, Boone won a $ 200,000 international invitation tournament in Shanghai, China, as a member of a selection of German and US players under the direction of coach Ralph Junge .

For the 2018/19 season, Boone moved to SCM U Craiova within the Romanian league. In 2019, he retired as a professional basketball player, moved to Los Angeles and started working in marketing.

family

In 2012, his younger brother Malcolm followed him after completing his studies at Keystone College in Pennsylvania , whose university team Giants play in Division III of the NCAA , to Würzburg and played for the regional league team of the main club TG Würzburg . Malcolm later moved to ASC Göttingen in the Regionalliga Nord.
