Jason Clarke (born July 17, 1969 in Winton ) is an Australian actor .

Life

Clarke, whose father worked as a sheep shearer, grew up in his birthplace Winton in the west of the Australian state of Queensland .

He gained greater fame from 2006 to 2008 for his role in the television series Brotherhood . In 2009 he took on the role of gangster Red Hamilton in Michael Mann's film Public Enemies . In 2012 he was in the films Lawless and Zero Dark Thirty . 2013 he starred in The Great Gatsby alongside Leonardo DiCaprio . In the same year he appeared alongside Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx in the film White House Down .

In 2017, he embodied Reinhard Heydrich in The Power of Evil .

Clarke's regular German speaker has been Tobias Kluckert since Swerve (2011) .
