Albert Gisclard
Albert Victor Hippolyte Léon Gisclard (* 1844 in Nîmes ; † October 31, 1909 while building the Ligne de Cerdagne ) was a French engineer and known for the cable-stayed bridges he designed .
Life
Albert Gisclard graduated from the École polytechnique in 1862 and then became an officer in the pioneer troops . There he mainly dealt with building bridges. In 1897 Gisclard left the military to develop new types of cable-stayed bridges.
Gisclard and five other people died in a train accident during the construction of the Ligne de Cerdagne in October 1909 .
