Jason Kenney

Jason Kenney (born May 30, 1968 in Oakville , Ontario ) is a Canadian politician . He leads the United Conservative Party in Alberta and has been Alberta's 18th Prime Minister since April 2019 . He is a member of the Alberta Legislative Assembly .

He grew up in Wilcox, Saskatchewan . He had two older brothers. He attended St. Michaels University School and then in Wilcox the Roman Catholic private school, of which his father was president. He then studied philosophy at the University of San Francisco , but never graduated.

In 1997 he was elected to the House of Commons for the Reform Party of Canada and was in the opposition until 2006. He wrote speeches for Stockwell Day . In 2006 he was appointed Secretary to Stephen Harper . In 2007 he was appointed Minister for Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity. In 2008 he became Minister for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship . In 2013 he was Minister for Labor and Social Development. In 2007 and 2014 he took part in the Bilderberg Conference . In 2015 he became Minister of Defense. After his party lost the Canadian general election in 2015 , he went into opposition.

In 2002 he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal . In 2012 he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal .
