Jawsh 685

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jawsh 685 (* 2002 or 2003; real name Joshua Christian Nanai ), also active under the pseudonym Joshua Stylah , is a New Zealand music producer from Auckland. He became popular through a dance video on the TikTok video portal .

Life

Jawsh 685 is the pseudonym of a New Zealander who became famous in 2020 at the age of 17 with the song Laxed (Siren Beat) . He posted the associated video on YouTube in the summer of 2019 , but initially with only moderate response. It wasn't until he uploaded a 14-second clip on the TikTok video platform in May 2020 that shows him dancing that the video went viral . Alternative videos were uploaded using the hashtags #socialdisdancing and #laxedchallenge. Originally, the goal was to dance in everyday clothes first and then to end the video in the traditional costume of the respective country, but this goal disappeared from the videos and since then it's more about imitating the dance style. After many private individuals initially shared clips, celebrities such as footballer Robert Lewandowski followed suit .

One of the first fans was the pop singer Jason Derulo , who used the beat for his song Savage Love without naming the New Zealander as the author. Derulo later came to an agreement with the artist. In the wake of the single's success, Jawsh signed 685 with Columbia Records .
