Jayakody Aratchige Don Anton Jayakody (born October 2, 1958 in Pamunugama , Sri Lanka ) is a Sri Lankan clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Colombo .

Life

Jayakody Aratchige Don Anton Jayakody entered 1975 in the minor seminary one in Colombo and joined two years later in the preparatory course . He completed his philosophical and theological studies at the national seminary in Kandy and received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Colombo on July 27, 1985 .

In addition to some short-term activities in pastoral care, he was mainly active in training priests. From 1985 to 1986 and again from 1987 to 1990 he worked at the propaedeutic seminar. From 1991 to 1993 he completed a postgraduate course in Rome, during which time he lived at the College of San Paolo at the Pontifical Urban University . From 1993 to 1995 he was an economist at the National Seminary in Kandy, where he was again active in the formation of priests from 1998. From 2003 to 2005 he headed the philosophical section of the seminar, which he headed as Regens from 2005 to 2011 . In 2011, as episcopal vicar , he took on responsibility for the formation of priests in the Archdiocese of Colombo and at the same time led the diocesan late vocational seminary of St. John Mary Vianney .

On April 4, 2018 Pope appointed him Francis to the titular of Mulli and Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo. The Archbishop of Colombo, Albert Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith , donated him episcopal ordination on June 23 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Mannar , Fidelis Lionel Emmanuel Fernando , and the Bishop of Kurunegala , Harold Anthony Perera .
