Jean-Baptiste Ama

Jean-Baptiste Ama (born August 20, 1926 in Koundou ; † February 29, 2004 ) was a Cameroonian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Ebolowa-Kribi .

Life

Jean-Baptiste Ama and was ordained a priest on June 4, 1955 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 12, 1974 auxiliary bishop in Yaoundé and titular bishop of Accia . The Archbishop of Yaoundé, Jean Zoa , donated the bishop to him on February 2 of the next year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Sergio Pignedoli , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and Emmanuel Kiwanuka Nsubuga , Archbishop of Kampala .

On July 22, 1983, he was appointed Bishop of Sangmélima by Pope John Paul II . The Pope appointed him on May 20, 1991 as the first bishop of the Ebolowa-Kribi diocese, which was established on the same date . On March 15, 2002, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
