Jean-Charles Richard

Jean-Charles Richard (born July 17, 1974 in Bourg-en-Bresse ) is a French jazz musician ( soprano and baritone saxophone ).

Act

Richard learned from 1981, his instrument in harmony orchestra of Mézériat . He then studied at the Conservatories of Bourg-en-Bresse, Mâcon, Dijon and the CNSMD of Paris . In 1992 he received the 1st prize for classical saxophone.

In addition to his work as a classical orchestral musician, he has worked with jazz musicians such as David Patrois, Claudia Solal , Pascal Bern, Antoine Hervé , Christophe Marguet , Jean-Marie Machado and Bernard Struber . He released two albums under his own name, Faces (2006) and Traces (2012, in a trio with Peter Herbert and Wolfgang Reisinger ) and two albums with Christopher Culpo. In 2012 he received for traces of the Grand Prix of the Académie Charles-Cros .

Richard is also professor of saxophone in the jazz program of the Paris Regional Conservatory.
