Joseph Jean-Max Bellerive (* 1958 in Port-au-Prince ) is a Haitian politician and was Prime Minister from 2009 to 2011 .

biography

The son of a respected doctor and a high-ranking employee of the World Health Organization studied at universities in Switzerland , France and Belgium after attending school and graduated with a diploma in political science and international relations , before he shortly before the fall of President Jean- Claude Duvalier returned to Haiti.

First, he was in the private sector operates and coordinator of "L'Acquinoise" one of the European Union -funded cooperative of fishing in the Sud Department . In 1988 he became a member of the Ministry of the Interior and Rural Communities, where he was deputy head of the organization and planning service with the rank of general director until 1990.

He then founded Sibel Consult , an agency for the management and preparation of development projects, with some friends . With this company he worked with numerous public institutions such as the Secretariat for Tourism , the National Port Authority (APN), the People's Bank of Haiti (BPH), the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) and the Ministry for Haitians Abroad. In addition, there was close cooperation with leading companies in the country such as Terminal Varreux , Shodecosa , ELF-Haiti , Vorbe et Fils , Radio Liberté , Haitel , Terrabus , Tecina SA and Meditel SA

After a brief activity from 1999 to 2000 as head of the election office for the Ouest department in the Conseil électoral provisoire ( Conseil électoral provisoire ), he was head of the cabinet of Prime Minister Jean Marie Chérestal from March 2001 to March 2002 . After subsequently serving as Senior Technical Advisor to Prime Minister Yvon Neptune , he was Coordinator of the Working Group on Coordination and Monitoring of Public Policy (CCS) in Prime Minister Gérard Latortue's office from March 2004 to June 2006 .

In September 2008, Prime Minister Michèle Pierre-Louis finally appointed him to a cabinet for the first time, where he became Minister for Planning and Internal Cooperation.

After the removal of Prime Minister Pierre-Louis by a vote of no confidence on October 30, 2009, Bellerive became her successor as Prime Minister on November 11, 2009.

After the declaration of a state of emergency after the earthquake in January 2010 , he was responsible for coordinating the relief efforts and rescuing the victims.
