Life
Jean-Michel Folon became internationally known in the 1960s for his illustrations of works by well-known artists such as Franz Kafka and Boris Vian, as well as for the design of posters and advertisements; Among other things, the Olivetti (typewriter) advertising campaigns of the 1950s and 1960s were shaped by his handwriting and were included in numerous poster collections . His pictures are often laid out in a light and subtle as well as surrealistic - melancholy watercolor - and pen technique.
Folon's works, watercolors, sculptures and pictures have been exhibited in all the famous museums around the world. His work A tree dies - Un albero muore , 1974, is in the Museo Cantonale d'Arte in Lugano .

The artist has his own museum in the form of the "Fondation Folon" which he founded on October 28, 2000. The museum is located in the Solvay domain park in La Hulpe, a few kilometers outside Brussels. Over three hundred works are shown in fifteen exhibition halls: watercolors, paintings, sculptures, engravings, objects, posters and illustrations.
