Jean-Paul Beugnot (born June 25,  1931 in Schiltigheim , † February 6, 2001 in Montpellier ) was a French basketball player .

career

Beugnot played 98 international matches for the French national basketball team between 1951 and 1961. He took part in the Summer Olympics in 1952, 1956 and 1960. In 1954 he competed with France at the World Cup and in 1955 and 1961 at the European Championships. At the Olympics in 1960 he was the top scorer of the French team with 13.6 points per match.

At club level, the 2.07 meter indoor player was French champion in 1958 with the Etoile de Mézières team and in 1960 with Etoile de Charleville. In 1958 (with Mézières) and 1959 (with Charleville) he also won the national cup competition. In the 1962/63 season he was the top scorer in the French championship. In 2013 Beugnot was awarded the Gloire du sport award.

From 1988 to 1992 he was Vice Chairman of the French Basketball Federation.

His sons Éric Beugnot and Gregor Beugnot were also national basketball players.
