Jean Falk (actually Johann Baptist Falk II. ) (Born November 30, 1850 in Mainz , † December 31, 1930 ibid) was a German craft functionary and member of parliament.

origin

Falk was the son of the book printer owner and member of parliament Johann Baptist Falk (1825–1905) and his wife Maria Antonia née Kirstein (Kirschstein). Falk, who was a Catholic denomination, married Anna Eva Wilhelmine Stein (1853–1931) in Mainz on September 3, 1872, the daughter of the Hofsäcker in Mainz Heinrich Jacob I. Stein (1820–1892), and Salome née Koelsch (1822– 1893).

education

He attended the St. Marien Institute and Realschule in Mainz and then after a stay abroad did an apprenticeship as a butcher . In 1872 he passed the master craftsman examination.

From 1886 to 1924 he was head master of the Mainz butchers' guild and member of the board of the Hesse and Nassau guild district. In 1900 he became chairman of the Grand Ducal Hessian Chamber of Crafts in Darmstadt . From 1908 to 1923 he was chairman of the butchers' liability insurance association . In addition, he was chairman of the Hessian Central Handicrafts Cooperative.

Politician

From 1896 he was a city ​​councilor in Mainz. He worked as an extraordinary member of the department for agriculture, trade and commerce in the Ministry of the Interior in Darmstadt. From 1911 to 1918 he was a member of the First Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse as a representative of the craft.

Honors

In 1905 he was awarded the honorary title of industrial council and in 1917 as a secret industrial council. In 1924 he retired.
