Jean Khamsé Vithavong OMI (born October 18, 1942 in Keng Sadoc ) is a Laotian Roman Catholic religious and emeritus Vicar Apostolic of Vientiane .

Life

Jean Khamsé Vithavong joined the Order of the Oblates (OMI) and was ordained a priest on January 26, 1975 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on November 19, 1982 as Apostolic Coadjutor Vicar of Vientiane and Titular Bishop of Moglaena . The Vicar Apostolic of Vientiane, Thomas Nantha , donated him episcopal ordination on January 16, 1983 ; Co - consecrators were Jean-Baptiste Outhay Thepmany , Vicar Apostolic of Savannakhet , and Archbishop Renato Raffaele Martino , Apostolic Delegate in Laos .

With the death of Thomas Nanthas on April 7, 1984 he succeeded him as Apostolic Vicar of Vientiane.

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on February 2, 2017.
