Jean Kockerols
Jean Kockerols (born August 13, 1958 in Brecht ) is auxiliary bishop in Mechelen-Brussels .
Life
Jean Kockerols initially studied law with a focus on maritime law and worked as a lawyer at Compagnie Maritime Belge , a Belgian shipping company. He was involved in L'Arche of Jean Vanier and entered the seminary and studied philosophy and Catholic theology and received on 18 September 1993 in Brussels, the ordination . He completed studies in canon law and philosophy. He received his doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . In 1995 he became vicar in Etterbeek in Notre-Dame du Sacré-coeur. In 2006 it became sub-rainof the archiepiscopal seminary in Brussels, where he accompanied the young aspirants to the priesthood. In 2004 he became a pastor in Ukkel-Saint Pierre. In 2007 he became Dean of Brussels South. Rr was the director of the Institute of Etudes Théologiques in Brussels, the "Center d'études théologiques et pastorales" (CETEP) in Brussels, and founding director of the "Center d'études pastorales" (CEP) of the diocese.
Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on February 22, 2011 auxiliary bishop in Mechelen-Brussels and titular bishop of Ypres . The Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels, André-Joseph Léonard , donated him and Léon Lemmens and Jean-Luc Hudsyn, who were also Auxiliary Bishops , episcopal ordination on April 3 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Godfried Cardinal Danneels , Old Archbishop of Mechlin-Brussels, and Giacinto Berloco , Apostolic Nuncio in Belgium and Luxembourg . As a motto he chose Beati invitati ad cenam Domini .
Kockerols has been a member of the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Community (COMECE) and its Vice-President since 2011 .
